Hello! I am Yvonne Garfield and I am the School Psychologist for the Eastern Region of the Bear Paw Cooperative.I began my educational career in my home state of Washington, completing my first two years at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, WA. After taking a year break, I made a “temporary” move to Montana in 1994 to finish my double major in Elementary and Special Education at MSU Billings. Upon graduation, I accepted a teaching position in Malta, where I taught Special Education for 4th-6th grades while working on my Master’s Degree in Counseling from MSU-Northern. Wanting to know how the other half lived, I taught 2 years in a regular ed 6th grade class while finishing up my endorsement in School Psychology through U of M. I finished my final 2 years with the Malta Public Schools as the School Counselor/School Psychologist before making my forever home with the Bear Paw Cooperative.
I have served as School Psychologist with BPC since 2006, still enjoying my “temporary” move back to Montana. I have two adult daughters as well as a daughter and son in elementary school…grateful for small town life which allows my kids to still be kids.
I spent many years traveling across Montana, following my older children through Swim Team, basketball, volleyball, and track. I am now enjoying the break from athletics for a while, and spend my free time traveling for pleasure before my younger children start into “Sports on the Hi-Line.” If you can ever find me with some free time, you will likely see me with a book or a paint brush in my hand.
